La Grande Boucherie: Upscale French Steakhouse & Cocktail Bar Experience

We visited La Grande Boucherie in Chicago and it was absolutely outstanding. We had a romantic dinner, and everything was perfect. The cozy, elegant atmosphere and truly exceptional service. The staff were incredibly attentive and professional, and every dish was beautifully presented and tasted amazing. The cocktails and desserts were fantastic as well. If you’re looking for a place to relax, enjoy great food, and have a wonderful time, this restaurant is a perfect choice

My wife and I came in to dine for our 4 year anniversary. We were so excited to visit this place as we are big foodies and love trying spots like this. Everything started out amazing! Friendly server, great drinks, amazing apps. We ordered a medium rare tomahawk steak. Special occasion, special steak. It came out well done. Second steak came out and was still a bit overcooked but so much better! The manager stopped by and even bought us an anniversary dessert. Overall, it was a great experience. My wife and I both have worked in the service industry for 7+ years so we understand things happen and definitely don't try and make a big deal when things like that happen. I highly recommend coming here and we 100% will be back for another special occasion.

Let me start this review by saying that i LOVE it here. It’s the perfect place to sit at the bar and enjoy their generous happy hour (4-7pm), talk to people sitting next to you, and be in the vibe. Marco, the bartender, IS THE BEST IN THE CITY! Ask him about chartreuse drinks (iykyk) and any other drink that you desire, and bam, you’ll receive. I’ve been coming here for years now, and always a had an exceptional time. Local or a visitor, come on in, sit at the bar and just enjoy your time. p.s. ask for a special drink called ‘la fée de terre’ with yellow chartreuse and cynar. you wont be disappointed ;)

Paris in Chicago! Gorgeous tile floor, perfect lighting, and an enormous zinc bar. Started with 2 glasses of champagne, graciously comped by Daniel since our table was delayed - despite the fact we didn’t have a reservation. The service was excellent. Our waiter, Marco, guided us through the menu, sharing detailed descriptions of the dishes that interested us as well as popular favorites. The branzino was perfectly flavorful, accompanied by fingerling potatoes and roasted peppers. The dry-aged bone-in ribeye was a perfect medium rare and I asked for the spicy poivré (pepper) and light bearnaise sauces on the side. Both were exceptional. For dessert we shared the lovely light Vanilla and Pear Entremet. Highest recommendation.

My friend and I came here for the New Year’s Eve experience and had an amazing time, largely thanks to our bartender & server, Dimitriy. He was incredibly attentive throughout the evening, gave us fantastic drink recommendations, and even took the time to teach us how to properly enjoy oysters since it was basically our first time trying them. The food was excellent, the gnocchi practically melted in our mouths, and you truly can’t go wrong with the pomme frites. The champagne they provided for the night was also amazing, and we loved that they even gave out party favors to help everyone ring in the new year, such a fun and thoughtful touch! We ended up staying for about four hours because we were having such a great time that it flew by. The atmosphere was beautiful, especially with the holiday décor, and made the night feel extra special. I definitely need to come here more often. Thank you again to Dimitriy for helping us start the new year off right. Can’t wait to come back!

We went to La Grande Boucherie Chicago for a birthday dinner, and while the host at the front seemed a bit annoyed when we arrived, which wasn’t the warmest first impression—the rest of the evening made up for it. Once seated, the space felt both cozy and refined, setting the tone for a lovely dinner. We started with fresh bread for the table, followed by cocktails and a chilled bottle of rosé. We skipped appetizers and went straight to our entrées, each one delicious and beautifully presented. Our waiter, Andres, was exceptional, attentive, and impressively remembered everyone’s order without writing a thing down. By the end, he surprised the birthday girls with dessert, which was a thoughtful touch. Even took the time to take pictures of our group. A special thank you to our waiter Andres, for his attentiveness as well as providing a beautiful and welcoming experience. The service he provided and food turned the night into a genuinely wonderful experience.

Came during restaurant week and had an amazing dinner. Met up w my gfs and we had a drink at the bar and the ambiance was perfect. Had the La Vie En Rose cocktail and loved it! After we had the caesar salad and steak frites and both were made too perfection. Andres our server took good care of us and Matt checked in on us and made sure we were enjoying our meal also! Will be coming back soon! :)

We stopped in for happy hour and sampled a few items from the menu, ultimately opting for a nice bottle of wine rather than the happy hour cocktails. The happy hour bites were very enjoyable—excellent cheeses, a well-prepared pâté, and fresh oysters that stood out. The service was decent overall. While it wasn’t particularly busy, our bartender seemed a bit stretched managing both the bar seating and tables, which led to some delays. That said, the food and wine made for a pleasant experience.
